I am an integrative counsellor and psychotherapist working with individual adults and couples. I completed my Diploma in Humanistic Counselling in 2001 and later an MA in Psychodynamic Counselling in 2016. My integrative approach draws on a range of therapeutic ideas, with a strong influence from humanistic models of therapy, particularly the existential approach.
At the heart of my work is the relationship between therapist and client. I see therapy as a joint venture, where we create a dialogue together to explore your world, develop greater self-awareness, and consider what may be standing in the way of moving forward in a way that makes sense for you. I aim to offer a safe, trusting and compassionate relationship in which this exploration can take place.
I have particular experience working with trauma arising from emotional, physical and sexual abuse and sexual violence. From 2016 to 2026, I worked with Rape Crisis as a senior counsellor and group therapist. This experience has shaped my understanding of the importance of safe, accepting and attentive relationships in supporting growth and healing.
Creativity has also been an important part of my life. I originally trained as an art student with the intention of becoming a painter, and I continue to make art today. I believe in its therapeutic value and, where it feels helpful and interests you, I am open to bringing creative ways of working into the therapeutic process.
My Irish roots are an important part of my identity, having grown up in London as the child of Irish immigrant parents. Before training as a therapist, I also worked as a welfare rights adviser and taught adults learning English as an additional language. These different experiences have contributed to the way I understand identity, relationships and the different contexts in which we live our lives.
